Monument Month 2021 - My monument is your monument

September traditionally marks Monuments Month in Kerkrade and Aachen. The purpose of this annual month of activities is to raise awareness of monuments by making this special Dutch cultural heritage accessible and preserved for a wide audience.

This year, around the theme "My monument is your monument
an attractive cross-border program has been put together, fitting within the corona measures.

Lectures, walks, tours and excursions

Go on an excursion through the Worm Valley, take a landscape history walk through Kerkrade, take a tour of Aachen or attend one or more lectures.

"How much of the past has been preserved in Aachen's Frankenberg district? How do you give a new function to a castle like Erenstein? How did the Aachen elite live during the imperial period and what was the influence of the former Kloosterrade Abbey, today's Rolduc, on the area? There is again so much to learn and discover during Monument Month!" says Alderman Schlangen (Culture).

Open Day

Always wanted to see inside a monument? The Baalsbruggermolen, Schacht Nulland, Abdij Rolduc and the Lambertuskerk hold open days in September. Check the brochure or website for the exact days you can visit these places.
