New performance agreements housing Kerkrade signed
Municipality of Kerkrade, HEEMwonen, Wonen Zuid, Wonen Limburg and tenant organizations have made new agreements on social housing. The agreements were made for the years 2024 to 2028. On December 15, the parties signed these agreements.
In May 2023, the municipality adopted the new housing vision. The housing corporations then indicated what contribution they want to make to this. These are now the performance agreements.
What are the performance agreements about?
The performance agreements cover 6 different topics. These include new construction, renovation, sustainability and suitable housing for people who receive Health at home. It is also about improving livability and safety in the neighborhoods. It is also about keeping rental housing affordable.
The housing corporations and the municipality believe it is important that Kerkrade residents retain opportunities for good suitable housing and move on within their own municipality. In recent years, the corporations have already allocated over 56% of housing units to Kerkrade residents. For 2024, it has been agreed that housing corporations will monitor that at least 50% of new rental homes are allocated to house seekers living in Kerkrade.

The Kerkrade housing offensive
Kerkrade has opted for a housing offensive, focusing on building quality housing. Quality and increasing livability will become the guiding principles for all new housing plans developed in the coming years.
The housing associations are also working to provide quality housing in Kerkrade. In cooperation with the municipality, they are working on the following new construction plans in the coming year:
- Rolduckerveld: completion of the first 88 apartments and 8 patio bungalows in 2024
- Centro Meta: completion of 23 apartments in 2024
- Corner lot Sun Street-Claus Street: completion of 2 row houses in 2024
- Schoutstraat - Toupsbergstraat: demolition of 26 houses and start of construction of 18 patio bungalows and 10 terraced houses in 2024
- Industrial street: start construction of 12 row houses and 8 patio bungalows in late 2024
