New start for Levensbomenbos West
During the planting day in Levensbomenbos West last Wednesday, work was done to restore the forest. Dead and weakened trees were removed. The people who had adopted a tree were then allowed to plant a new tree of life.
In preparation for planting day, the soil has been improved. It has been loosened and made more nutritious. This will help the new trees to grow better.
Alderman Geers (Public Space) was also present. He emphasized the special character of the forest for many residents: "For many residents, this forest is a special place. People plant trees here to mark important events or in memory of loved ones. That is why we believe it is important that the forest remains healthy. With new trees and better soil, we are ensuring a green space for now and for the future."
Levensbomenbos West was planted in 2017 and expanded in 2019. It now has 410 trees, consisting of various types of fruit trees and deciduous trees.
