Nominate your young hero for the JONK award!

In Kerkrade, many children and young people selflessly dedicate themselves to others. They help someone who is ill or elderly, start an action for a good cause or undertake another special activity that makes our town a little more beautiful. To appreciate these efforts, we annually present the JONK award: the municipal award for young heroes. 

New Name

The JONK award is the successor to the Youth Medal, which has been awarded since 2011. The name has been changed, but the idea remains the same: reward children and young people for their voluntary efforts and show how valuable their contribution is to society.

How does it work?

Anyone can nominate a young person for this special award. For example, it may be a friend, a classmate, someone from the neighborhood or an acquaintance. Complete the digital nomination form and explain why your young hero deserves the JONK award. Nominations can be made until October 5.

After the closing date, an expert jury evaluates all entries and makes a selection. During official presentation in November, the celebratory honors will take place.
