Applying for Distinction

Do you think someone deserves a ribbon? Applying takes a long time. Would you like the presentation to take place during the rain of the ribbons (King's Day)? Then submit your application before July 1.

Awards may also be presented on special occasions, such as a 50th anniversary celebration. Apply for these at least six months before presentation.

For whom.

Mayor Petra Dassen-Housen may present awards to anyone who performs merits in the municipality of Kerkrade. Even if he or she does not live in Kerkrade.

How do you apply for a royal decoration?

You can request a ribbon by filling out and submitting the Royal Decoration Request Form. 

Applying for Royal Distinction

To qualify for a ribbon, the candidate must meet a number of Requirements . What they are, you can find on the website of the Chancellery of the Netherlands Orders of Merit

Medal of Honor

The Royal Medal of Honor is a badge of honor for (sports) associations, foundations and institutions. You apply for the medal of honor when your organization celebrates an anniversary. This can be at the 50th anniversary or every 25 years after.

Does your organization receive the Royal Medal of Honor? If so, you may add this title to your name, logo and letterhead. You may also use the royal coat of arms.

The application goes through the mayor. The mayor checks the application and forwards it, along with her recommendation, to the Governor. The latter, in turn, forwards it to the King. The Governor lets the applicant know what the King has decided.
