Report violation of environmental regulations

What is it?

If you think someone is not complying with environmental regulations, you can report it to the municipality. For example, you can report that somewhere:

  • illegal waste has been dumped
  • the soil is polluted
  • the air is polluted
  • noise pollution is

How does it work?

You then make a request for enforcement. After your enforcement request is received, the municipality will check to see if environmental regulations are being violated. If so, the municipality can take action. The municipality can:

  • fine
  • force the violator to comply with environmental regulations (administrative order or penalty payment)
  • decide to revoke the permit

The municipality may also ask the police to take criminal action.

What to do?

You can only file an enforcement request if you have an interest in complying with environmental regulations.

You submit the request to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Municipality of Kerkrade.

To submit your enforcement request, you will need:

  • your name, address and place of residence
  • the name of the company or person against whom you are making a request
  • a description of the offense
