Parking of large vehicles

What is it?

  • It is forbidden to park large vehicles on the road. This applies to trucks and coaches, for example.
  • If you do want to park a large vehicle on the road, apply for an exemption from the municipality.

However, parking of such vehicles is permitted on the following roads or road sections:

  • The south side of Mercury Street from Klarenansteler Road to about 100 meters before the end of the road;
  • The west side of Nievelsteen Street, as far as the section between Wolfsweg and the first right turn;
  • The south side of the cul-de-sac on Bart van Slobbestraat (behind the junction with Albert Thijsstraat);
  • The north side of Ir. van Elst Street;
  • The north side of Ir. van Diest Street;
  • The east side of Wenckebach Street and on the following two lanes:
    • The part of 60 meters counted from the corner Ir. van de Elststraat-Wenckebachstraat towards Ir. van Dieststraat;
    • The section between Ir. van Diest Street and Valkenhuizer Avenue;
  • The south side of Jupiter Street and namely the section from about 150 meters from Dentgenbachweg to the end of Jupiter Street;
  • The east side of Minerva Street and namely the section between Jupiter Street and Mercury Street.

How does it work?

You need a parking waiver in the following cases:

  • your vehicle is longer than 6 meters or higher than 2.4 meters
  • you want to park Monday through Friday between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. or on weekends

Note

If you have a camper, caravan or camper van that is longer than 6 meters or higher than 2.4 meters, you may park it on the road for a maximum of 3 days. You do not need to apply for an exemption for this.

What to do.

You request the exemption from the municipality. When doing so, please provide the following information:

  • your name and address
  • details of your vehicle
  • the street where you want to park the vehicle
  • date and time you want to park the vehicle
  • Why you want to park your large vehicle on the road

How long does it take?

You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you will receive the waiver.

Objecting

Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? Then you can object within 6 weeks.
