Traveling exhibition ‘FEMICIDE’ now on display
From March 3 to March 24, the impressive outdoor exhibition FEMICIDE will be on display in Kerkrade on Kapellaan, near the Discovery Museum and Kerkrade Centrum station.
In the Netherlands, no less than 1 in 5 women experience domestic violence, and every 8 days a woman dies as a result of violence. This harsh reality is the focus of the exhibition FEMICIDE.

Open Mind collaborates with the Municipality of Kerkrade and relatives of victims of femicide. The exhibition features portraits and candid stories of thirteen women. They show which signs, red flags, can indicate domestic violence. You will also receive information and tips from relatives for victims, bystanders, and professionals.
With FEMICIDE, we want to make it clear that intimate partner violence often starts slowly. It begins with control or psychological pressure and can then escalate to stalking, physical, or sexual violence. By recognizing these signs early on, we can work together to prevent femicide.
With this project we want to:
- Raise awareness,
- Recognize red flags earlier,
- Asking for help motivates and reduces the number of victims of femicide.
The exhibition is traveling throughout the Netherlands and serves as a starting point for discussions about safety, support, and awareness at each location.
Visit FEMICIDE on Kapellaan in Kerkrade. Be moved by the stories, learn to recognize the signs, and discover how you too can make a difference.
