Sewer clogging

What is it?

  • The municipality must provide maintenance of the public sewer system.
  • You are responsible for the sewer system on your own property.

Sewer clogged

If your sewer is clogged then either you or the municipality must fix the clog.

  • If the cause is on municipal land, the municipality must fix the problem and the municipality pays the cost.
  • If the cause is on your own land, you must fix the problem yourself and pay the cost yourself.

What to do.

Always report sewer problems to the municipality. Check with your neighbors to see if they also have sewer problems. If it is sewerage for which the municipality is not responsible, contact the owner or landlord of the block of apartments.

Sewer Clog Solving

First, have the cause of the clog investigated. To do this, the owner must excavate the easement pit or have it excavated. The location of the easement pit can be obtained from the municipality.

If the cause is on your land, you must fix the problem and pay the cost.

Reimbursement for cost of solving blockage

You can only be reimbursed for the costs you incurred if the cause is on municipal land. Inquire about this with the municipality.
