Hanging banner

What is it?

If you want to hang a banner on the public road, you need permission from the municipality. For example, if you want to announce an event or convey a particular message.

How does it work?

If you want to hang a banner, ask yourself the following:

  • Is normal use of the road possible?
  • Is the safety of pedestrians and other traffic at risk?
  • Is there any inconvenience to nearby residents?
  • Can the message be hurtful to others?
  • Is the streetscape being marred?

Notice! The municipality may refuse commercial advertising texts on banners.

What to do.

You are asking the municipality if you may hang your banner. In your request, provide the following information:

  • why you want to hang the banner
  • Where you want to hang your banner
  • When and for how long you will hang the banner
  • how big the banner is
  • a drawing or photo of the banner

How long does it take?

Within 8 weeks, you will hear whether you are granted permission.

Additional information

The municipality may require that your banner allow wind and/or air to pass through. Further note the following:

  • Health make sure you secure the banner properly.
  • Health ensure that you do not cause damage to trees, walls or lampposts.
  • Health make sure the banner can withstand the weather.
