Start of construction on Koempelstraat in Kerkrade-West

On Industriestraat, we are working with Wonen Zuid and Van Wijnen to build a new residential courtyard with 20 rental properties. The street will be called Koempelstraat. Construction is progressing well: the retaining walls have been erected, the site has been leveled, cables and pipes have been laid, and the foundations are in place. Next week, the ground floors will be laid, and from March 17, the Fijn Wonen concept homes will be installed. These homes will be delivered in parts and assembled on Koempelstraat.

Alderman Geers (housing):“Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day to celebrate this milestone at the construction site. By demolishing old, dilapidated buildings, we have made room for these new homes. The building at Industriestraat 41 has been sold and is being renovated. Later, the residential courtyard will connect to the Wauwelpad, strengthening the walking and cycling route in the neighborhood. With this project, we are providing pleasant, new homes for first-time buyers, families, and seniors. In this way, we are working together to create livable neighborhoods where everyone feels at home."
