Proxy voting

The Mayor of Kerkrade announces that at the upcoming election of the members of Kerkrade Council on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, a voter is permitted to vote by proxy. In doing so, the following rules apply.

A. TRANSFER OF VOTING CARD (PRIVATE PROXY).

1. You can authorize another voter living in the municipality of Kerkrade to vote in your name.
2. Fill out the back of your voting card. 
3. The person you authorize to vote on your behalf must provide a signature on your voting card.
4. You must also provide a copy/photo of your valid ID to the proxy. The proxy must show this copy/photo to the chairperson of the polling station.
5. The transfer, of the voting pass converted into a proxy card, can be done up to and including the day of voting.
6. You have the right to revoke the power of attorney again.

B. WRITTEN POWER OF ATTORNEY

1. Forms for petitions to vote by proxy are available free of charge at the Municipal Elections Office. You can also submit a digital application at www.kerkrade.nl/gemeenteraadsverkiezingen-2022.
2. The petition is due no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022.
3. The person who has agreed to act as a proxy must be registered as a voter on Monday, February 5, 2018.
4. If the request is granted, the authorized representative will receive a proxy certificate. 
5. A proxy is not authorized to revoke the proxy or participate in the vote itself.

A voter may not accept more than 2 (two) proxies.
The proxy vote must be cast at the same time as one's own vote.
