Wedding official for one day in Kerkrade

Would you like a family member or acquaintance to officiate your wedding in the municipality of Kerkrade? That is possible.
Once you have set the wedding date, you can propose someone to become a temporary civil registrar (BABS) in Kerkrade for one day.

Requirements

The person you choose can only be appointed if he or she:

• has already been appointed as a (special) civil registrar in another municipality;
• has an official report of his or her swearing-in as a BABS;
• can demonstrate experience in performing marriages;
• does not receive any compensation for performing your marriage.

What documents must you or the designated person provide?

The person you wish to appoint must send the following documents by email to burgerlijkestand@kerkrade.nl:

• An application for designation as a one-time BABS with:
  • full name, date and place of birth;
  • address, phone number, and email address;
  • your details as the bride and groom;
• A copy of the valid designation decision;
• A copy of the official report of the swearing-in ceremony;
• A copy of the holder page of a valid passport or identity card (front and back).
