Renewal of Cross Street

Since late 2025, the municipality has been working on Kruisstraat, from the intersection with Holzstraat to the intersection with Domaniale Mijnstraat.

We are doing this because the road surface and traffic light need to be replaced. In addition, we also want to adjust the traffic situation locally. 

We carry out the work in several phases

Over the past few months, extensive work has been carried out on underground utility lines in Kruisstraat. An old water main and gas line have been removed and replaced. The medium-voltage power cable has also been replaced. In addition, a new storm sewer has been installed to improve stormwater drainage. This will significantly reduce flooding in Kruisstraat.

In the next phase, one section of the intersection will be repaved. Starting April 22, the intersection will be partially open. Traffic coming from Germany will then be able to drive toward the station via Holzstraat-Kruisstraat and Domaniale Mijnstraat. The road will temporarily be one-way in this direction. This will ensure that traffic can flow safely while the remaining work is still underway. 

If everything goes according to plan, the work will be completed in mid-June.
