Voluntary gardens in Kerkrade

There are two ways to rent an allotment in Kerkrade:

  1. As an individual, you rent an allotment from the municipality.
  2. You become a member of an allotment association and rent an allotment through the association

Municipal allotments

You can rent an allotment from the municipality. The land remains the municipality's, but you may use it. You may only use the allotment for growing vegetables, fruits and plants.

Municipal allotment rental rates

  • The rent for a garden with an area of 1 to 49m2 is € 13.00 per year
  • The rent for a garden with an area of 50 to 99m2 is € 26.00 per year
  • The rent of a garden with an area of 100 to 149m2 is € 40.00 per year
  • The rent for a garden with an area of 150 to 199m2 is € 53.00 per year
  • From 200m2 the rent is €0.264 perm2 per year

Before the lease takes effect, you must pay a deposit. 

  • The deposit for an allotment up to 99m2 is €100.00
  • The deposit for an allotment of 100m2 and larger is € 200.00

This deposit will be returned to you when you return the garden clean and empty at the end of the rental period.

Once you have submitted the form, one of our staff members will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your options. Our colleague will then let you know if a garden is available at the chosen location. 

Terminate your allotment rental

Do you want to terminate the rent of your municipal allotment garden? Then a notice period of one month applies. This means that you must give 1 month's notice to terminate your rent. This is a calendar month. For example, if you want to terminate the rent from September 15, you must let us know no later than August 15.

Would you like to rent an allotment through an allotment association? If so, please contact the association of your choice.
