Potty Training with the Plasklas

This is an old post.

Did you know that you can start potty training when your child is between 1.5 and 2 years old? But how do you go about it? And what should you keep in mind? De Plasklas is here to help. It’s a playful and positive way to practice together with your child. This makes potty training less stressful and even fun.

What is the Plasklas?

The Plasklas is a free, short training program for children between the ages of 1.5 and 2 who are not yet potty-trained. In four clear steps, you’ll work together toward a life without diapers. You’ll receive:

  • A large fold-out picture book full of cheerful illustrations and fun facts
  • access to the Plasklas app, which includes instructional videos and a step-by-step guide
  • Three posters for your home
  • A free online consultation with an educational specialist.

Experience has shown that the Plasklas program reduces diaper waste and lowers CO2 emissions. Children become potty-trained more quickly and therefore use fewer diapers. This reduces residual waste and is better for the environment. In this way, we work together to reduce waste and create a more sustainable living environment.

You can sign up for free at www.plasklas.nl/mijn-gemeente-doet-mee and will receive the materials at home. You can follow the program at your own pace.

Have you finished the training? Please return the book to the health clinic. That way, the book gets a second life, and we can help other parents.

Cooperation in the Region

The Plasklas is made possible by the 16 municipalities in South Limburg, childcare organizations, health clinics, waste collection company Rd4, the Province of Limburg, Trendbreuk, and GGD Zuid-Limburg (Youth Health Care).

For more information, visit the GGD website at or ask at your daycare center, preschool, or child health clinic.
