The Martin Buber plaque
Recipients of the Martin Buber plaque
The Martin Buber plaque has been awarded every year since 2002 by the Euriade Foundation. The award is named after the Jewish philosopher Martin Buber (1878-1965), who is best known for his book "Ich und Du." In that book, Buber explains that real encounters between people are only possible when we see each other as equals and treat each other with respect.
The plaque is awarded to people who also demonstrate this idea in their own lives. These are people from different worlds: art, politics, science or social work. What connects them all is that they build bridges, facilitate dialogue and work for others. They give hope and opportunities to people and show that differences do not have to separate, but rather can connect and grow.
That is why the Martin Buber plaque is more than an award. It is a token of appreciation for all those who have the courage to engage in dialogue and make life more human and meaningful for others.
