Redevelopment of Schoutstraat & Toupsbergstraat.

Housing corporation Wonen Zuid and the Municipality of Kerkrade are going to work together in the old part of Schoutstraat and Toupsbergstraat in Chevremont. By demolishing old houses and building new ones, the living environment will be improved.

In Schoutstraat and Toupsbergstraat there are now 26 social housing units owned by Wonen Zuid. These houses are old and their quality is no longer good enough. Therefore Wonen Zuid will demolish the houses. It is expected that the demolition of the current houses will start in the spring of 2024. Then Wonen Zuid will build a total of 28 low-energy (lifespan) houses back on the site of the old social housing.

Life-sustaining housing and single-family homes will be returned to the same site

In the place of the 18 homes on Schoutstraat, 18 life-proof homes will be built. These are houses where residents can continue to live even if they have to use a walker or a wheelchair, for example. The 8 houses in the Toupsbergstraat will be replaced by 10 new single-family houses.

It will be a beautiful neighborhood where you can live comfortably

The new houses will fit in well with the rest of the houses in the streets. By replacing the old social housing with new houses, Wonen Zuid and the municipality want to ensure that the streets will look nicer. They also want to make it a neighborhood where people of different ages can live comfortably.
