Corner lot Sun Street/Claus Street
In the summer of 2015, a large fire destroyed a hospitality building on the corner of Sun Street/Claus Street in Chevremont.
After the fire, the property was purchased by an outside party who planned to renovate the building. When this took too long, the municipality purchased, remediated and demolished the property in 2020. Talks were then held with the housing corporations in Kerkrade to gauge whether any of them were interested in providing the plot with redevelopment. In the end, Wonen-Zuid turned out to be interested.
Wonen-Zuid began construction work on May 16, 2023. The homes will be completed by the end of April 2024.
