Tiny Houses Carisborg

By 2022, five Tiny Houses will be placed on the former field hockey fields in Carisborg. With the Tiny Houses, the municipality is experimenting with a new form of living together with residents.

Tiny Houses are small, full-sized, detached homes with a floor area of up to 50 square meters, with the smallest possible ecological footprint. At the same time, adding habitation in this part of Carisborg increases livability, social control and safety. The pilot emphasizes the residents' philosophy of "live small, live big.

The birth of Tiny Houses

On the location where there are now 5 Tiny Houses, hockey was played by HC Kerkrade until the 2014/2015 season. After the field hockey club ceased to exist, this area no longer had any real function.

In 2021, the municipality of Kerkrade decided to take this up by looking into the feasibility of installing Tiny Houses. The area turned out to be suitable for this. So in the summer of 2022, the municipality of Kerkrade prepared the site for the arrival of 5 Tiny Houses. This is a pilot project of initially 5 years that will be evaluated in the coming years. This evaluation will show whether it can be converted to a permanent location for 5 Tiny Houses. On April 14, 2023, the Tiny Houses were officially opened.

The municipality is cooperating with the association Tiny Wonen Limburg for this project. If you would like more information about renting a tiny house spot, please contact Tiny Wonen Limburg through their website.
