Neighborhood approach Bleijerheide-Nulland

Logo Bleijerheide and Nulland. Here you are at home

Bleijerheide and Nulland are neighborhoods with a special history. Neighborhoods with a village character and many associations. Where there has always been a strong sense of community. But also neighborhoods that have lost their luster over time. Where contact between neighbors has become less. Where there is drug nuisance and residents sometimes feel unsafe.

We want this to change. And that Bleijerheide and Nulland become neighborhoods again where residents feel comfortable and safe. That is why the municipality of Kerkrade and housing corporation HEEMwonen will work with residents, entrepreneurs and experts in these neighborhoods.

Together we put our shoulders to the wheel and build a strong and prosperous future for Bleijerheide and Nulland.

This has already happened in Bleijerheide-Nulland

A lot of things have already been taken up in Bleijerheide. For example, the 'Attack Plan Bleijerheide-Nulland', Neighborhood Park Prickbos, Kloostervleugel Pannesheide and SUPERLOCAL.

Attack plan Bleijerheide/Nulland

We started the "Bleijerheide/Nulland Attack Plan" in 2019. This is primarily a plan for improving safety. In it are things like tackling drug nuisance, residential nuisance, room rental and mailbox properties, youth nuisance, (residential) burglaries and the increasingly deteriorating appearance of the neighborhood.

Prick Forest Neighborhood Park

Together with the Prickbos working group, we looked at what we can do with neighborhood park
Prickbos. We will address the building and public space. The playground will get to manage everything.

Monastery Wing Pannesheide

At Monastery Pannesheide, the municipality is working with Steenvlinder and the neighborhood on housing in the old monastery wing. There will be handyman housing here and the surrounding space will be redeveloped.

SUPERLOCAL

The site where the high-rise apartments first stood has been completely transformed. The four flats have made way for 130 new affordable rental homes, a common area for residents and neighbors, a new public space and a water cycle. In this, the material from the demolished flats has been reused.

This is what we are still going to do in Bleijerheide-Nulland

Now it is the turn of the rest of Bleijerheide and Nulland.

Together with residents, entrepreneurs and experts, the municipality and HEEMwonen are looking at the future of the neighborhoods. The future in not too long time, but also the future in a few years. We do this in the neighborhood plan Bleijerheide-Nulland.

To improve living and living in Bleijerheide and Nulland, the municipality and HEEMwonen have received money from the state, province and City Region Parkstad Limburg. Together with the money that HEEMwonen and the municipality itself contribute, we will spend about 7.6 million euros in the coming years on better living and life in the neighborhoods.

We use this money to buy up poorly maintained owner-occupied homes. We refurbish them and make them sustainable and energy efficient. Or we demolish them and build beautiful, sustainable homes in their place. We are also looking at what we can do with vacant properties and vacant land.

We have already started doing this. You can see from the posters on the properties where we have already acquired homes.

But there are more problems in Bleijerheide and Nulland than bad-looking houses. Above all, there are social problems. These are problems such as safety, unemployment, poverty and lack of security.

Therefore, we are not just going to use the money to make the neighborhoods look better. Fixing up the housing is just the beginning. We are also going to use it to address all the problems in the neighborhoods.

Thinking together about the future of Bleijerheide-Nulland

The people from the neighborhoods are of course the most important stakeholders! Above all, we want to think together about the future of Bleijerheide and Nulland. Therefore, we will soon start the Club Bleijerheide-Nulland. This is a group of people consisting of residents, entrepreneurs and association members. And who want to think, discuss and decide together with us on various projects and topics.

Would you also like to participate in thinking about the future of Bleijerheide and Nulland? Then sign up for the Club. You can do this by sending an e-mail to gemeentehuis@kerkrade.nl
